USCIS Filing Fee Calculator: Total Government Fees for Your Immigration Case (2026)

Added on September 22, 2026 by Gustavo Z. Vargas, Esq., Florida Board Certified Immigration Attorney
Fees read: September 22, 2026, from USCIS Form G-1055, Fee Schedule, edition dated September 9, 2026. Every dollar figure on this page comes from that document. When USCIS publishes a new edition, this page is re-read and the date changes.
USCIS publishes its fees one form at a time, in a 58-page PDF, with different amounts for paper and online filing and a list of add-on fees that depend on who is filing. Nobody files one form. A marriage green card is four forms; an H-1B is one form and up to five separate fees. This calculator adds up the government side of a case so you know the total before you start, and the table underneath it is the same data laid out for anyone who needs to quote a single fee.
What this covers, and what it does not. The totals below are USCIS filing fees only: the money that goes to the government with the forms. They do not include the State Department fees for a visa interview abroad, the medical exam, translations, or attorney fees. Our own fees are flat and quoted at the consultation; how they compare to the government fees is covered in what an immigration case actually costs and how long it takes. If your case does not fit the presets, tick the forms yourself. La misma calculadora está en español: calculadora de tarifas de USCIS. If a form you need is not listed, it is because we could not confirm its fee from the schedule and would rather leave it out than guess.

Fee waivers and reduced fees. Some forms accept Form I-912, Request for Fee Waiver, which asks USCIS to waive the filing fee for an applicant who receives a means-tested benefit, has a household income at or below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or can show financial hardship. The N-400 also has a reduced fee of $380 for a household income at or below 400 percent of the guidelines. The schedule says where each applies; in the table below, the Notes column says "waiver possible" for the forms that accept one. A fee waiver request has to be filed on paper, and it does not apply to the fees created by Public Law 119-21 (the $100 asylum fee, for example), which USCIS says cannot be waived. Whether a waiver is a good idea in your case is a legal question, not an arithmetic one, and it depends on facts this page cannot know.

How USCIS fees change
USCIS is paid for by the people who file with it: by its own account, about 96 percent of its funding comes from filing fees and about 4 percent from Congress. The amounts change in two ways. The agency rewrites its whole schedule by regulation, rarely; the current base fees come from the final rule published on January 31, 2024 and in effect since April 1, 2024, which replaced a schedule that had stood since December 2016. Congress can also attach fees by statute, which is where the $100 asylum fee and the annual asylum fee come from (Public Law 119-21, as cited in the G-1055 itself), and those cannot be waived. The Asylum Program Fee on employer petitions is different: it was created by the 2024 rule to have petitioners fund part of the asylum system. In between, USCIS reissues the G-1055 whenever a category is added or a fee is corrected, which is why the edition date on the PDF matters more than the year in a headline. This page tracks that edition date.
Questions people ask about USCIS fees
Is it cheaper to file online?
Usually by $50. The schedule lists a lower online fee for most forms that can be filed through a USCIS online account (the I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, N-400, I-90, I-539 and I-751 among them). Some forms have no online option at all, and you cannot file online if you are asking for a fee waiver or the reduced N-400 fee; those go on paper.
Who can get a USCIS fee waiver?
Form I-912 is available for the forms the schedule marks as waiver-eligible, and USCIS grants it on one of three showings: you or a household member receive a means-tested benefit such as Medicaid or SNAP, your household income is at or below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or you have a financial hardship such as recent unemployment or high medical bills. Employer petitions, the I-129F, the DACA forms and the fees created by Public Law 119-21 are not waivable. A denied waiver means the whole package comes back, so the timing of a deadline matters when you decide whether to ask.
What happens if I pay the wrong fee?
USCIS rejects the filing and returns it, and the filing date is lost. For a renewal with an expiration date attached, a work permit or a DACA grant for example, that lost date can mean a gap in authorization. The schedule states it plainly: "If the fee is incorrect, the application, petition, or request will be rejected." Check the edition date on the G-1055 the day you mail, not the day you started the forms.
Do I pay for the I-765 and I-131 when I file them with my I-485?
Yes, since April 1, 2024. Under the previous fee rule they were free with a pending adjustment application; now the work permit is $260 and advance parole is $630 on paper or $580 online when filed with or after an I-485 that was itself filed on or after that date. Anyone whose I-485 was filed with a fee before April 1, 2024 and is still pending keeps the $0 rate.
Are USCIS fees refundable if the case is denied?
No. The fee pays for the adjudication, not the result. The one exception on the schedule is premium processing, which USCIS refunds if it fails to act within the promised window.

Every figure on this page was read from USCIS Form G-1055, Fee Schedule, edition dated September 9, 2026, on September 22, 2026. Where the schedule gives a paper and an online amount, both are shown. Where it gives one amount, that amount is shown in both columns or marked as paper only. The add-on fees for employer petitions (the Asylum Program Fee, the Fraud Prevention and Detection fee, the ACWIA fee and premium processing) are taken from the same document. Nothing is estimated, and a form whose fee could not be confirmed from the schedule is left off rather than filled in. The calculator does the arithmetic on these figures and nothing else; it does not decide which reduced-fee or exemption category you fall into. When USCIS issues a new edition of the G-1055, the figures are re-read and the date at the top changes.
You may republish these figures with attribution and a link to this page. Every heading and every row of the fee table carries a stable anchor id (the pattern is fee-i-485), so you can link to one fee rather than the whole page.
